Access to healthcare in the country of origin.

Information on the use of Austrian social and health insurance in your country of origin:

The Social Insurance for the Self-Employed (SVS) will send you a welcome pack at the start of your insurance. In this pack you will also find the form ‘Application for the E106 form’. Complete, sign and return this application to the SVS. You will then receive the certificate (E106) from the SVS, which you must present to the competent health insurance institution in your country of origin. They will check whether you are entitled to claim under the legislation in force there.

If this is the case, you will receive your own proof of entitlement (health insurance card, sickness certificate, etc.) and can use it to obtain medical treatment in your country of origin.

The scope of benefits and any deductibles or co-payments are then based exclusively on the legal provisions applicable in your country of origin.

Your dependants are also entitled to benefits in your country of origin if they are considered dependants under the legislation in force there. Of course, you can also go to the doctor in Austria.

Please note that you will generally have to pay a deductible of 20 per cent when claiming benefits in Austria.
