What do I do in an emergency with the person in my care?
Duty to inform:
In an emergency: Provide first aid as far as possible and call the emergency services immediately on 144.
You can prepare answers to the following questions in advance:
a) Where does the rescue have to come from?
Make a note of the exact address of the person in need and read it out as clearly as possible on the phone.
b) What is your callback number?
c) What exactly has happened?
d) Is the person conscious?
e) Is he/she breathing?
Only close the phone when the emergency services have all the information and say: ‘We're coming’. Only then contact the family.
